It also gets compared to Zelda right off the bat because of it's top-down screen by screen exploration. By the end chapters, the turn-based battles are more cumbersome with little reward compared to the effort to beat them. It's easier just to run away and forget that part of the game.

Even so, I would look forward to sequel if one were ever announced.Zenic Reveriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16441583549326102945noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4946916641850178817.post-52659326319722707722012-07-20T00:48:01.643-07:002012-07-20T00:48:01.643-07:00I really see this as one of the great RPG gems of ...I really see this as one of the great RPG gems of the NES. I did a post of my own on why this is (http://wwwthinkinginsidethebox.blogspot.com/2011/07/magic-of-scheherazade.html if you're interested), but basically, I see a lot of creativity in how this game works and its plot, with some ideas ahead of its time (like the mixed battle system, or the effective use of time travel), and some bits of creativity that I only wish had been adopted by future titles (cannon-fodder troopers you can hire, and the setting). I always thought it was criminal how little of a following this one got.The RPGeniushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02752937839502693108noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4946916641850178817.post-89184116614207910132012-06-05T08:52:19.322-07:002012-06-05T08:52:19.322-07:00No worries. I think I may actually play through only one or two of them. I need to run them through the rating system when I have more time to really explore them. Also, it'd be good if I could find manuals for a few of them. Manuals were really necessary for a lot of these older games it seems. I found the manuals for Crypts of Chaos, and read that I can do more than just move forward and backward down a single hallway. :DZenic Reveriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16441583549326102945noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4946916641850178817.post-21048753252410614082012-05-21T22:23:22.213-07:002012-05-21T22:23:22.213-07:00Dammit, I posted under the wrong account again.
O...Dammit, I posted under the wrong account again.

Original post: I'm very interested to see where you go with these "roots."

In any case, good review. I'll have to check it out some time.killias2https://www.blogger.com/profile/00398131197947456691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4946916641850178817.post-84836852533355228352012-05-21T22:22:10.520-07:002012-05-21T22:22:10.520-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.postcardsofplaceshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03859655234749217686noreply@blogger.com
