Sorry for the short post. I don't have much to say except my save file got corrupted (my best guess), and when I loaded it I started at the beginning of the game with nothing. I thought this is a problem I might face more often with cartridges and battery saves, but this was on the Xbox 360 with its hard drive. I read that this version actually has save states and it's recommended to use them over the original save feature.
So, last night was spent grinding back up and completing the quest up to the point I did the previous night. I didn't spend quite as much time grinding, so I'm short a sword and armor I bought for Odin previously. I might spend some time to grind those out tomorrow night, but I was disappointed and just wanted to get back to where I was without going further story-wise.
Ugh! Tough luck there. My condolences. :/
ReplyDeleteAt least this happened early in the game. I can't imagine what would happen if I lose a save 10s of hours in. Luckily these first few games are usually less than 20 hours, so even if I lose the save it shouldn't take too long to get it back.
ReplyDeleteI just didn't expect it; sitting down ready to play and finding the save missing felt so disappointing. Thanks for the comment, and I'm sure it won't be the last time, but my first night of my first game... wasn't expecting that.
No problem. I've been there a few times myself.
ReplyDeleteIf you ever get to a game you play by emulation I can help you set up a version control system, so that you can always revert to an earlier version. (At least I assume I can: You are on Windows, yes? Even Linux I can probably help with somewhat)
ReplyDeleteWell it doesn't help much that I was saving infrequently, so I don't know how much that would have saved. I'll keep this in mind if it comes to that.
