How about an update for the blog instead?

Well, I ended up not playing all week. Sorry for the lack of updates, I'll definitely get some playing in this weekend and get a game related post up on Monday latest.

In the meantime, the poll is over, and it seems most of you finding your way here (and bothering to vote) know what you're getting yourselves into. A couple people seem to have stumbled upon here by mistake, so I apologize to those if anything misled you here.

Not much of an update, but I wanted to get a poll up for Final Fantasy. Help me fill out my party of four by selecting your favorite character (Fighter, Black Belt, Thief, Red Mage, White Mage, or Black Mage). If there's an overwhelming favorite, then that character may get multiples in the party. Hopefully there's a good mix and not everyone picks the same character (single class parties are harder I hear). So, vote away!

A side note, I've started another blog (Side Quest Saga) dedicated to playing some games on the side. Mainly I'll be playing games at the same time as CRPG Addict (Chet) or The Adventure Gamer (Trickster), and what better way to do that than also blog about it; however, there are also some computer games I want to play that aren't on their lists. First game up is Star Saga: One - Beyond the Boundry.

Rather than dump such out of place content here, I figured it'd be better to separate it. There's no ordered list (although I have a short list of games I might cover) as I'm going to leave it open for scheduling. The console RPG blog is still my main blog though, so no worries about it dropping off. I really just haven't had any chance to play on my consoles.

  1. Odd. I voted for Black Mage, but the poll said that there was a single vote for White Mage. So I changed my vote to White Mage, but the results showed a single vote for Black Mage. So, I tried Black Mage again and now there's two votes for White Mage. Maybe I'm going too quick for the system, but that's definitely odd. I have it so it shows one for White and one for Black, so hopefully that means my vote was counted (and hopefully not twice?).

    1. I tested my vote and noticed it didn't show up until I refreshed the page. It's strange that it didn't show right away. You should only be able to vote once. Seems Blogger is bugging out a little with this poll. Well, if anything, we have four votes for a party. :)

  2. Thief : So you wield the power of white magic and a giant hammer. Those are some very versatile skills.

???: You wanna know who's even more versatile? [fanfare] THE RED MAGE!

My vote is obviously for Red Mage, and this is my second hint as to something that would be awesome to see on youtube.

    1. Seems mages are the favorite so far, doesn't matter what color.

    2. Well, some of us (SOME of us) MAY be biased by fond memories of 8 bit theater, back when it was good (You know, the first 100 strips or so). Also: Mages are just generally cool, and fireballs are also cool.

      Also? Generalist? Ewwwwwwwwwww.

    3. I played through this game multiple times with single class parties. I'm fairly sure I completed fighter, red mage, and black mage. Based on the current votes, I'm probably going Red, Red, White, Black. Still another week though, so who knows.

    4. Not knowing the series - what's the difference between the different coloured mages?

    5. White focuses on curing, healing, and buffs (beneficial magic like raising hit % and evasion). Black focuses on damaging elemental spells, and debuffs (poison, sleep, lower enemy evasion). Red can cast both types of spells, but gains new spell levels slower and caps out not being able to cast the higher level spells. To offset this, Red mages are allowed to use more powerful weapons and armor.

    6. Canageek: I wasn't aware 8BT ever got bad. Every other month I check back on the site to see if 8BT is coming back ('cause it's shiny!). I would be all for a '16-Bit Theater.' (sadly the divorce rate is likely to rise exponentially if this happens)

By the way here are the "answers" to the mentioned cool hints :

(That's from back on the Wonderboy post. Good song and EVERYONE READING THIS SHOULD WATCH AKIRA IT IS ULTIMATE!............ and for the one I made earlier in a comment on this blogpost:)

You know what? You'll see it when you come to it, so just watch all of the 8BTs on youtube (not the CHAOS ones) and then read all of the comics following where the videos leave off. This should put anyone in the right mindset for just how insanely hilarious 8BT is.

    7. Giauz: I read it for a few years, but found it wasn't really making any new jokes after a while. I think it was around the time of the cold fusion generator?

    8. It has been awhile so l am not sure when that was, but I definitely recommend you finish the series. I suppose we do differ on the opinion of running gags. I thought 8BT's were the best.

If nothing else read the Dragoon story ark and what I will call "Black Marge's Triumph" (I believe both are near the end) all the way to the end. Oh and special mention for Red Mage stacking all his character sheet points into animal husbandry- Ok that's it! I am rereading the series!
